Air pressure and elastic ceiling
Air pressure is the force exerted by air on a unit of the earth’s surface. Air pressure and stretch ceilings have an adverse effect when there are defects in the substructure or installation of the stretch ceiling.
In indoor spaces, we have positive or negative pressure, which we will briefly explain.
Positive air pressure
Positive pressure in a room means that the air entering from outside is more than the air leaving. This is usually done to add fresh air to the room.
For example, water coolers increase the positive pressure in a room.
Negative air pressure
Negative pressure occurs when the indoor air is constantly expelled.
This is mostly done to remove polluted air and purify the air.
A fan or ventilator in the pool increases the negative air pressure.
Breathing stretch ceiling
Sudden changes in pressure in a closed space directly affects the elastic ceiling due to the distance that it has with the main ceiling.
There is a space between the stretch ceiling and the main ceiling, the air inside of which is usually the same as the air inside the room or interior space.
But sometimes due to the use of directional items:
Air pollution control
Temperature control
Airflow control
From equipment such as air conditioners, industrial fans and air purifiers, sometimes the presence of a window or certain conditions somewhere can cause the air pressure to be positive or negative.
The difference between the air pressure behind the ceiling and the air pressure in the room causes the so-called elastic ceiling to breathe.
To solve this problem, we need to bring the air pressure behind the ceiling closer to the room air pressure.
What can we do to solve the problem of elastic ceiling breathing?
Be sure to discuss this with your respective expert before ordering a stretch ceiling. (Of course, lab experts in one space try to consider everything(
Make sure that there is no open chamber or vent on the back of the stretch ceiling.
If you use large industrial fans, it’s better to install a small air vent on the elastic ceiling to create a connection and air balance between the two ceilings.
Stretch ceilings are flexible and very light. This is one of the unique advantages of stretch ceilings, but using this ceiling also requires special engineering and techniques.
If, after installation, you notice that the stretch ceiling breathes when you open and close the door or window, as well as when you turn on the air conditioner, fan or ventilator, contact the Maz3D experts and avoid non-specialized measures to resolve this issue.
